Metrics

Metrics are used to measure your team's performance. Examples include KPI's such as calls, closed sales and meetings.

What are Metrics?

Metrics are the building blocks of Hoopla. They are used in Leaderboard rankings and Metric Newsflash triggers, and they are the only way to get data into Hoopla.

A Metric definition is simply a place to store player, team, or generic identifier values. The values stored in the Metric can be updated as often as you'd like. Any time a value is updated, it is reflected in downstream entities like Leaderboards and Metric Newsflashes immediately.

You can update player Metric values in a few different ways:

Example Metrics: Deals Closed This WeekOutbound CallsMeetings Booked

Team and Generic Identifier Metrics can be updated in the following ways:

  • manually
  • Google Sheets connector
  • public API

What are some examples of Metrics I can track?

  • Outbound Calls
  • Demos Scheduled This Week
  • Pipeline
  • Revenue Month-to-Date
  • Renewal Opportunities Won
  • Support Satisfaction Rate
  • Top Rep Last Month
  • Cases Closed
  • Average Deal Size

How can I automate Metric updates?

  • You can automate Metric updates using the Salesforce connector (Corporate edition only).
  • If you have developer resources available, you can use our public API.

  3. Enter a Name for your Metric.
    • Example: If you want to measure how many leads your team has created, name this metic Leads.

    • Example: For Leads you would choose Number, but other options include Currency and Percentage.
  5. Manually add Values to this metric. These player values will be shown in Leaderboards later on.
    • Under Name, find a user in the dropdown menu you would like to add.
    • Add the current value for this user.
    • Repeat until all relevant users have been added.
    • Click Save.

How often should I upload data?

  • This depends on how frequently your metrics change. If there is a lot of activity, it might make sense to upload once a day. If your business cycle is a bit slower, you might be fine uploading once a week.

How can I track quota attainment or progress toward a goal?
  • Easily! With the Upload feature, you can upload any metric you’d like. That means you can perform calculations in your Excel spreadsheet, such as quota attainment, then upload the results to Hoopla.
  • If you're looking for a more automated solution, check out our Google Sheets integration.
What timeframe is associated with my Metrics?
  • It’s up to you! Hoopla doesn’t enforce a particular timeframe. When you define a metric, you have the freedom to upload values for any timeframe. If you run your business on a custom fiscal period, no problem!

Can I use different currencies on different Metrics?

  • Absolutely! In Hoopla, we support all the currencies currently supported in Salesforce. Your currency setting will default to the currency you have defined on the Settings page, but you have the option to change the currency on individual Metrics.  When defining the Metric, select Currency under "Type" and then click on the dropdown menu to select the currency you would like to see displayed on that Metric. This will enable you to display multiple currencies on a channel or even a leaderboard!
